I am a concerned taxpayer, and I am a resident of your constituency. I am writing today as a concerned citizen about the ongoing health-care crisis affecting families across New Brunswick.
Across our province, thousands of people are still waiting for access to a family doctor. Emergency rooms remain overcrowded, wait times for specialists continue to grow, and many residents are forced to rely on walk-in clinics or emergency departments for basic care. These are not isolated cases — they are daily realities for people in our communities.
Recent announcements about new funding agreements and contracts with physicians have been described as the start of a "new chapter" for health care in New Brunswick. While investment in our health system is important, funding alone will not solve the deeper structural problems that have developed over the past decades. Patients are still waiting, and many feel the system is becoming increasingly difficult to access.
As your constituent, I believe meaningful reform must focus on measurable results for patients. New Brunswickers deserve clear goals and accountability in areas such as:
• Reducing the number of residents without a family doctor
• Shortening wait times for specialists and diagnostic tests
• Ensuring emergency departments can treat patients in a timely manner
• Improving transparency so the public can see whether reforms are actually working
We need policies that prioritize patient access and system efficiency, not simply increased spending without clear outcomes.
I respectfully ask that you advocate within government and the Legislative Assembly for stronger accountability measures and real solutions that will restore confidence in our health-care system.
Health care is the most important public service our government provides. The people of New Brunswick deserve a system that works when they need it.
Thank you for your time and attention to this important issue. I would appreciate hearing your perspective on how you believe these challenges will be addressed.
Sincerely,
